14-Day Update: Can This Boring Niche Still Make $21,000?

Discover how to monetize your social media in 7 days

Two weeks ago, I ran an experiment to see if a seemingly boring niche could generate $21,000 per month in passive income. The response to that video was overwhelming—tons of views, comments, and questions. Now, it’s time for a 14-day update to see what’s working, what’s not, and what’s next.

If you’re serious about building a profitable online business, keep reading because I’ll be breaking down real numbers, challenges, and strategies I’m using to grow this channel.

Recap: The Experiment So Far

In case you missed it, two weeks ago, I launched a YouTube channel in a niche inspired by a video from Marcus. The goal was simple:
✔ Test whether a boring niche could actually generate big money
✔ See if I could grow fast without relying on the algorithm
✔ Answer the most common questions from my audience

Here’s what’s happened since then.

Current YouTube Channel Results

So, how has the channel performed in the last 14 days?

📌 Total Views: 2,400+
📌 Watch Time: 86 hours
📌 New Subscribers: 37

The first video I uploaded took off immediately, getting over 1,700 views, but my next videos had lower engagement. Here’s what I learned:

  • Views don’t always come instantly. Sometimes, it takes a few hours before YouTube starts pushing the content.
  • Engagement matters. Videos with more comments and likes tend to perform better.
  • Consistency is key. I need to improve my upload schedule to keep momentum going.

One thing that slowed me down was accidentally deleting a video I had planned to upload last Thursday. That mistake set me back, but I’ve learned my lesson—always keep a backup!

Biggest Mistakes & What Needs to Improve

Even with decent results, I know there’s room for improvement. Here’s what I need to fix:

1. Thumbnails Need an Upgrade

Right now, my thumbnails are not optimized for clicks. I need to:
✔ Improve contrast and color choices
✔ Add stronger text hooks
✔ Use better images and visual cues

2. Better Keyword Research

Some of my videos aren’t getting as much traction because I didn’t target high-demand search terms. Moving forward, I’ll:
✔ Use TubeBuddy & VidIQ for keyword research
✔ Look for videos with 2x-3x more views than the channel’s subscribers (a sign of strong demand)
✔ Create titles & descriptions that match real search queries

3. Consistency Through Batch Creation

To stay on schedule, I’m switching to batch content creation:
📌 Day 1: Plan & script all videos
📌 Day 2: Record voiceovers & screen recordings
📌 Day 3: Edit & upload with optimized thumbnails

This way, I never fall behind and can post at least three times per week.

How I’m Monetizing This Channel (Without Ad Revenue)

I’m not focused on YouTube’s Partner Program because ad revenue is unpredictable. Instead, I’m focusing on:

1. Digital Products

I’m considering selling:
Cheat sheets
Templates
Mini-guides

These are easy to create, provide real value, and don’t require a huge audience to be profitable.

2. Affiliate Marketing

I’ll recommend useful tools and software related to the niche, earning commissions on every sale. This is one of the fastest ways to monetize a small channel.

If I set this up correctly, I won’t have to wait for YouTube to pay me—I’ll already be making money.

Final Thoughts: The Plan for the Next 30 Days

Here’s my game plan moving forward:

Fix my thumbnails – A/B test new designs to increase click-through rates
Improve keyword research – Target high-demand, low-competition search terms
Post 3x per week – Stay consistent using a batch content creation system
Launch monetization – Test affiliate marketing & digital products

What’s Next?

I’ll be posting another update on March 21st to share my progress, revenue numbers, and more insights.

But here’s the big takeaway: Nothing happens overnight. The only way to succeed is to show up consistently and keep improving with every video.
