Discover how to monetize your social media in 7 days
Building a profitable YouTube channel doesn’t always mean you have to chase viral trends or be on camera. In fact, some of the best opportunities are in what most people would call “boring” niches.
A month ago, I started a faceless YouTube channel in the painting niche, inspired by a video from the affiliate marketing expert, Marcus Campbell. He suggested that simple AI-generated videos in an evergreen niche could generate income. So, I put the strategy to the test—and today, I’m sharing my results, lessons learned, and next steps.
The Strategy: Creating AI-Generated YouTube Videos
The entire process of making these videos can be broken down into three key steps:
1. Finding the Right Video Ideas
The first thing I did was research content ideas. My approach was simple:
- I searched YouTube using keywords like “best color combinations” and “interior paint ideas.”
- I looked for videos with high view counts relative to the channel’s subscriber count.
- If a small channel had a video with significantly more views than its average, that told me the topic had strong organic reach.
- I also checked out other videos from these channels to see which topics consistently performed well.
2. Using AI to Generate Content
Once I had a list of proven video topics, I used AI tools to create my content:
- ChatGPT: I asked it to generate 10 unique color combinations for each video, explaining why each one was a good choice.
- Leonardo AI: I used this to generate high-quality 3D renderings of rooms with different color schemes.
- ChatGPT (again): I then prompted it to write a full script for the video, ensuring it included engaging hooks, calls to action, and a structured format.
3. Editing and Uploading
With the content in hand, I put everything together in Adobe Premiere Pro:
- I paired AI-generated images with the narrated script.
- I used royalty-free motion graphics and stock footage to add visual interest.
- I designed simple but effective thumbnails using Canva, keeping them clear and visually appealing.
I committed to posting three videos per week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday), a manageable schedule that allowed me to batch content efficiently.
The Results After One Month
After just one month, my results exceeded expectations:
- 30,000 total views
- 1.4K hours of watch time
- 288 new subscribers (starting from just 30!)
- One video hit 21,000 views within a month
The biggest takeaway? These videos start slow but gain momentum over time. Many of my videos had minimal traction in the first few days but then picked up significant views later.
How I Plan to Monetize
While I haven’t monetized the channel yet, I see several strong opportunities:
1. CPA (Cost Per Action) Marketing
- Partnering with affiliate networks like OfferVault to promote home improvement-related services (e.g., painting contractors).
- Some offers pay $20 per phone call—no purchase necessary.
2. Selling Digital Products
- Creating a home improvement eBook or printable guides using PLR (Private Label Rights) content.
- Selling it on platforms like Gumroad or Etsy for a low price ($7-$27).
3. Affiliate Marketing
- Promoting Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Benjamin Moore paint and supplies.
- Using Amazon’s affiliate program to link to brushes, rollers, and other DIY essentials.
4. YouTube Partner Program (YPP)
- My channel isn’t monetized yet, but I’m well on my way:
- 500 subscribers needed for YPP Level 1 (I’m at 337).
- 3,000 watch hours required (I’m at 984).
- If my videos continue growing, I should qualify in 3-5 months.
What’s Next?
With solid proof that this strategy works, my next step is outsourcing the entire process:
- Hiring a scriptwriter to generate high-quality content.
- Using a voiceover artist (or AI-generated voice).
- Paying an editor to assemble the final videos.
If I can scale this while keeping my cost per video low, this niche could become a consistent, passive revenue stream.
Final Thoughts
Most people ignore “boring” niches, but that’s exactly why they work. There’s less competition, but still huge demand.
The key is finding content with proven demand, systematizing the creation process, and sticking to a consistent upload schedule.
If you’re looking for a faceless YouTube side hustle, this is one of the best models to try.
